PRESIDENT'S LETTER
From the President
by Roger Haynes

As I write my first newsletter as Chapter President, I have just finished the arduous task of completing the numerous initial filings for the new Texas Margin Tax.  If your experience was anything like mine, let’s hope that more changes are on the way in the form of simplification and taxpayer relief.  I think we will all have to stay tuned to the ongoing development of this tax.

I want to express a thank you to our outgoing President, Richard Blankenship.  The Chapter had a successful year with our various CPE events as well as the new initiatives started involving the New and Emerging CPA’s.  The Chapter has been left in a good position.  Jean Norrell also deserves a special thank you as well for her tireless efforts in working with the New and Emerging CPA’s at both the Chapter and state level...

Online License renewals
The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (the Board) has traditionally mailed paper renewals six weeks prior to the due date for returning the renewal to the Board.  Corresponding with the mailing of paper renewals, individuals can now begin completing the renewal online.  An announcement appears on the Board’s website that gives details on the renewals that can be completed online.  As an example, individuals who have a June birth month can now complete the renewal online, and the announcement states “License renewals that are due June 30, 2008 can now be completed online.”  The online renewal is also available to all licensees who may have missed a renewal deadline, but need to complete the renewal for a single license period...
