The MIGI Conference is coming up in a couple of weeks. Early registration is open through October 11th, 2006. This is always an excellent conference, and this year's line-up is no exception. Dr. Nita Clyde will present a four hour ethics course, Dr. Doug Heatherly will speak on the "Mysteries of Motivation", Julie Gilmer, CPA will cover Quick Books and Excel and Shawn Twing, Attorney will handle labor

TAKE a LOOK...
A Belated Thank-You
Thank-You to Ann Lingerfelt who generously donated $350.00 to PAC. She was the lucky winner in May at the final Chapter Meeting of 2005-2006. She won the drawing of $350 cash on the first draw. Immediately, she turned the money over to PAC. Thank you Ann for supporting PAC and the CPA Profession in this way.
2007 US Master Tax Guides
Tax Guides are order and should arrive late December or early January. Over 100 have been sold, so place your order as soon as possible to ensure receipt of a Guide. Orders can be placed via the website at www.pctscpa.com. Orders are not valid until Paypal monies or a check is recieved. Thank you.

TEXAS MARGIN TAX
In the past two issues of Today's CPA, several members of the State Taxation Committee wrote articles on the new Texas Margin Tax. In subsequent issues, the Committee will have an FAQ section in regards to the tax. If you have any questions to submit for review, please send them to staff liaison Kaira Tanwar at ktanwar@tspca.net. The Committee is also working with the Comptroller's office on rules related to the new Margin Tax.
Build Your Network
You can build a network of other CPAs from around the state by serving on a TSCPA Committee. December 9 is the deadline to volunteer for the 2006-2007 service year. Study the list of available committees in the Volunteer member community, accessible through the Members Only section of the TSCPA Web site at www.tscpa.org. Then click the Volunteer Now link to sign up. Others from our Chapter have served and received benefit from doing so. Take time to look at the multitude of interesting opportunities.
