It’s official . . . a meeting of the Central Florida Legislative Delegation has been confirmed for Tuesday, December 15, 2009, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., at the Fairwinds Alumni Center, conveniently located across the street from the Arena at the University of Central Florida; this event will be hosted by the Central Florida Partnership and held in cooperation with the University of Central Florida.

Leadership Orlando Announces 2010 Schedule and Class Chairs
The 2010 Leadership Orlando Class schedules have been confirmed with Class 79 beginning on March 16 & 17, and Class 80 scheduled to begin on September 15 & 16, 2010. These Classes will be led by Volunteer Class Chairs Virginia Lewis Whittington (Class 79) and Captain Bill “Roto” Reuter, USN (Class 80). Bringing their extensive experience and expertise to the Leadership Orlando program, they will both serve as important members of the Central Florida Partnership’s Volunteer Leadership Team.

Save Space Campaign

On June 14, 1979, Audubon staff member Doris Mager climbed into an inactive Bald Eagle nest in Central Florida. She stayed there for six days and five nights, to raise awareness of the plight of the Bald Eagle and to raise funds to build the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey.

Leadership Orlando Congratulates Major Ojeda
Deanne Ojeda, commander of the U.S. Army recruiting company in Orlando, was recently promoted to the Army rank of major. MAJ Ojeda, who is currently a member of Leadership Orlando Class 78, assumed command of the Orlando recruiting company in July 2008 and is responsible for all Active and Reserve Army enlistments in Orange and Seminole counties. Her command includes 7 recruiting stations in the greater Orlando area and nearly 60 recruiting personnel.

Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center Interior Rendering Unveiled
October 15th was a banner day for the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center! The Center is one of three regional Community Venues that were approved as part of Project Hometown, the largest public building project in Central Florida history. Now rising in downtown Orlando is the new Amway Center, soon to be followed by the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center and renovations to the Florida Citrus Bowl.
