Dear Alumni, Friends and Former “SON” Members:
Many of you are probably aware that last fall, in conjunction with the NSU Office of Alumni and Development, we initiated the first-ever “Band Enhancement Campaign” in an effort to raise approximately $300,000 to replace many of our “ancient” instruments and to purchase new uniforms for the marching band. I am happy to announce that more than $230,000 has been raised through the generosity of our current NSU students and their leadership from the “Student Technology Fee” that is assessed each semester.
It is gratifying to know that our current students realize and acknowledge the importance of the “Spirit of Northwestern” and the entire School of Creative and Performing Arts to NSU. With this knowledge, I, along with the former “SON” members who have endorsed this letter, turn to you to help us to “CLOSE THE GAP!” and to push us over the top of our fundraising goal.
Attached you will find a brochure that will explain to you many of the accomplishments of the University Bands and the importance of the program to NSU. I hope you will take a few moments to consider making a donation to our “CLOSE THE GAP!” campaign today. Any donation is appreciated but, if you could help us by purchasing an entire uniform ($400), it would help us meet our goal and the new uniforms could be ordered in the spring semester. It would take just slightly over 200 former SON members to help us complete the campaign and “CLOSE THE GAP!”.
As I mentioned above, any donation is appreciated and all donations to the campaign are 100% tax deductible. In addition, any donation of $100 or more will earn a copy of one of the latest NSU Band CD’s that includes recordings of both the marching and concert bands. The back page of the brochure gives you complete information about how to make your donation by check or credit card. Click here if you would like to make a contribution online.
In closing, I wish you the best for a wonderful year and hope that you know you are always invited to visit the campus of NSU, home of the “Best Soundin’ Band in the Land”.
Warmest Regards,
Bill Brent
