Purple Pride Summer Tour Stops set in July for Shreveport-Bossier, Cenla

Northwestern State Football coach Scott Stoker will be the featured speaker in Shreveport and Pineville on the Fourth Annual Purple Pride Summer Tour promoting NSU athletics.

The Shreveport-Bossier Tour Stop is Thursday, July 13, from 5:30-7:30 at Savoie's "The Catering Place at 2441 East 70th Street. The Alexandria-Pineville Tour Stop is Thursday evening, July 20, from 5:30-7:30 at Lee J’s Restaurant in Pineville just off the Jackson Street Bridge.

The Tour Stops are open to everyone at no charge. Appetizers and refreshments are provided. A brief program will begin about 6:45.

NSU fans and the public are invited to drop by during the Tour Stops to talk with Stoker, and assistant coaches, among others visiting from Natchitoches and NSU. Door prizes will be given away while highlight videos will be shown and ticket information will be made available. Schedule cards and posters will be provided for pickup free of charge. NSU apparel will be available for purchase.

"We spend our athletic year encouraging residents of the area surrounding Natchitoches to come to our campus to enjoy watching our teams compete. The Purple Pride Tour is our way of visiting our fans and showing how much we appreciate the support we receive," said athletics director Greg Burke. "It's a great chance for people to meet many of our coaches and personnel in a relaxed setting. “

The Purple Pride Tour also rallies support for NSU and promotes season tickets sales. Also highlighted this year will be the tremendous showing by the Demon basketball program, which reached the second-round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
