Since late September, St. Mary’s Credit Union has been collecting non-perishable food and personal care items at all of its locations through its “One Can Make A Difference” food drive. All of the donations are going to Marlborough’s Community Cupboard and the Hudson and Northborough Food Pantries.
According to the Northborough Food Pantry, the most needed items include: whole grain cereals, granola bars, healthy snacks, rice and pastas, canned fruit in natural juice, peanut butter, jelly, canned stews, pasta meals (such as Spaghetti O’s), shelf stable milk and juice boxes, soup, and personal care items such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and lotion.
St. Mary’s Credit Union typically holds a food drive later in the year, but decided to begin the drive early in response to the urgent needs of local food pantries. “When we heard that the local pantries were struggling to keep up with increased demand, we decided to take action,” said Anthony J. Battista, vice president of marketing for the credit union.
