St. Mary’s Credit Union has launched a new promotion – We Love Local Contest, in which a local business member is featured in the Business Spotlight one week each month.
The promotion highlights a different local business each month with daily chances to win a $25 gift certificate to the highlighted business. The contest takes place solely on Facebook, and all fans of St. Mary’s Credit Union’s Facebook page are eligible to win the daily prize.
The brainchild of Marketing Manager Sarah Day, the credit union is relatively new to Facebook and was looking for ways to increase its number of likes. Since the credit union’s brand was that of a local financial institution, she saw the idea of cross-promoting a local business with the credit union’s social media aspirations to be a good fit. The credit union bought $25 gift cards from a local business and raffles them off each day to a member who “liked” the St. Mary’s Credit Union Facebook page. This cross-promotion was a genuine win-win-win as it benefitted members, member businesses, and the credit union.
“We are delighted that we were able to partner with Allora Ristorante for September’s We Love Local Contest,” said Anthony J. Battista, vice president of marketing for St. Mary’s Credit Union. “I hope that this cross promotion with Allora helps local people discover another great local restaurant and, at the same time, drives fans of Allora to become fans of ours.”
September was the second month for the We Love Local Contest. For the first month, the featured business was Water Fresh Farm, a local hydroponic grower and fresh food center.
When asked about results to date and future goals, Day said, “It’s still in its infancy stage. If it generates enough new likes, we will continue it.”
