President’s Message
by Wendy Lopez, NAWBO D/FW president 2003-2004

Our May program is dedicated to presenting our internal Chapter awards. It will be held on May 10th at CityPlace Conference Center and will begin at 11:30 a.m. We will announce the Woman Business Owner of the Year and give our volunteer awards. We will also have a new award this year named the Pink Poodle Award – this award will become a traveling trophy award in recognition of someone for special contributions to the Chapter. Next year slate of officers will also be presented to the Chapter at this meeting – and you know what that means – it means that my term is drawing to an end. Susan Abrahamson, our current President-Elect, will officially take office on July 1, 2004. The clock is ticking!

With the National Conference less than 2 months away, the Chapter activity is at an all-time high. You should have received your conference brochure by now. If you have not, please contact Ellen Bradley at (972) 503-9020. As a reminder, our Chapter has 3 pre-conference activities – a Golf Outing at Cowboys Golf Course, a Sight-seeing Tour of the City, and a Spa and Shopping Excursion to the Dallas Galleria and Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. These activities are not just for our visitors, so sign up and have some fun. (Couldn’t we all use a day at the Spa?) We are also hosting a very fun and exciting Friday night event called “A Taste of Texas”, so make sure you sign up to attend this event. If you are not a conference attendee and would simply like to attend the Friday night event, please contact Ellen Bradley for information (214.428.7475).

Marilyn Bushey has led the Chapter National Conference committee to new heights! They are doing such an outstanding job, being creative and inclusive every step of the way. Marilyn is looking for volunteers to help out during the conference, so please contact her at 214.428.6766 to volunteer your time and let’s make this the best conference ever!

Until next month…
Pump up the Volume!
