NAWBO D/FW was featured prominently in a recent Dallas Business Journalarticle. Our president Wendy Lopez succinctly explains why
Texas women-owned businesses are a cut above the rest and NAWBO’s goal of
creating a statewide businesswomen’s caucus.
The following is an excerpt from the February 6 article:
“Successful businesswoman Wendy Lopez, chief executive of
the LopezGarcia Group, told a crowded room attending the 10th annual
Mentor-Entrepreneur Recognition Luncheon Jan. 30 that TXU mentored her several years back when she was in the process of
moving her banking relationship. TXU helped Lopez send out a "request for
proposals" to several area banks to bid for her business. "I was so
used to going in and begging for money that I never considered them wanting
me," said Lopez, whose engineering company has grown from a one-person
engineering shop to a firm that now employs 225 people in eight offices across
three states. Lopez merged her firm, Wendy Lopez & Associates, with Garcia
& Associates in 2002.”
Please congratulate NAWBO D/FW Director of Public Policy Susie Morrissey who was honored as
"WBE Advocate of the Year" at the January 27 Women's Business Council
Southwest (WBCS) Parade of Stars Awards Gala.
Congratulations also to TXU, a valued NAWBO D/FW Corporate Partner named
WBCS "Corporate Advocate of the Year", and to WBCS "WBE of the
Year" Imprimis Group, headed by former chapter president Valerie Freeman.
