The November luncheon brought 50 members
and guests of the Dallas/Ft. Worth chapter of the National Association of Women
Business Owners together at CityPlace near downtown Dallas to "Pump Up the
Volume" and fine tune their sales skills.
Susan Abrahamson, President-elect
President Elect,
Susan
Abrahamson substituting for President,
Wendy
Lopez, opened the meeting by welcoming the visitors and new members to the
luncheon and made several announcements including asking D' Forman to bring the
chapter up to date on the success of the recent golf tournament.
Susan introduced
Carol
LeStarge of
Attitudes and Attire, a
non-profit organization that assists in moving underprivileged women back into
the workplace. Carol let the chapter know that the greatest need of the
organization at this time was new pantyhose and scarves to accessorize the
ladies for job interviews. Carol invited members to bring those items to the
December luncheon for the organization to distribute.
Table networking followed announcements before the Program
Chair,
Joan Voeller, introduced the
third in a series of business related programs. Tom Niesen, owner of Acuity Systems, presented this month's
program, "How to be Your Own Best Salesperson". Acuity has taught sales people,
mangers, and entrepreneurs in over 260 industries how to use non-traditional
sales techniques to bring out their hidden sales skills.

Tom Niesen, Acuity Systems
Tom's interactive style and energy made for a lively and
motivating session inspiring the attendees to move out of their "comfort zone"
by using his methods to remove some of the anxiety of making sales calls.
President Elect, Susan Abrahamson ended the luncheon by
introducing Linda Downs of PAC (Political Action Committee) who challenged the
chapter to contribute so that the PAC can ensure that women business owners
continue to have their issues addressed in Washington.
