October Special “PUMP UP THE VOLUME” event is a Powerful Success!
A Great Time Was Had by All
by D’ Forman

The weather was splendid and sunny, with mild temperatures and no wind – the perfect conditions for golfing. The networking was top notch. The silent auction was a shopper’s paradise. This year’s NAWBO/WBCS Eighth Annual Golf Classic, held on October 27, was an unmitigated success!

Twenty-five teams made up of corporate sponsors, NAWBO and WBCS members and their guests enjoyed networking while playing a round of golf at Brookhaven Country Club. Three prizes were awarded to the team closest to the pin, with the longest drive, and the worst team.

While the golfers were out putting around, 37 tee party attendees learned more about golf equipment, got some personal instruction from the Brookhaven pros and practiced their new skills out on the course. Personal instruction gift certificates were given to the most improved tee party participant.

The silent auction created its own excitement as golfers and guests bid until the last minute to take home their favorite items. Packages that generated the most interest were the Romantic Weekend package with the martini basket, the Special Sunday Brunch with limousine, Mavericks tickets, the Bowling for Cookies basket, and Wine Classes.

Guests at the evening awards dinner broke open cookies donated by Stephanie Vandegrift of the Cookie Company to win a third of a carat diamond donated by Sharon Evans of CFJ Manufacturing.
NAWBO and WBCS would again like to thank our golf tournament sponsors: Belo, ExxonMobil, and UPS as Gold; BankOne as Tee Party; ADP Total Source, American Airlines, Business Interiors, Fluor Global, Jackson Walker, LLP, JP Morgan Chase, Legacy Bank, Lockheed Martin, LOPEZGARCIA Group, Southwest Airlines, Texas Instruments, TXU Business Services, and Verizon as Silver; Delta Dallas, Dougherty Sprague Environmental, and Forman Group as Individual; and Ericsson, ExxonMobil and Sunbelt Telecommunications as Prize Sponsors.
