President’s Message
by President Wendy Lopez

For a Chapter that doesn’t normally hold a Chapter meeting in October, we sure had a busy month!  On October 21st, we held a PR Seminar and Media Training at Las Colinas Country Club – what a beautiful setting!  Mary Schnack from Sedona, Arizona gave us some excellent tips on how to get yourself or your business some positive media attention.  At this same meeting, we had a visit from our NAWBO National President Elect, Beverly Inman-Ebel who told us all about what’s happening with NAWBO on a National level.

If having those two folks wasn’t enough excitement for one month, on October 27th, we had the 8th Annual NAWBO/WBCS Golf Tournament.  What a beautiful day.  D’ Forman, our tournament co-chair, ordered excellent weather, and the camaraderie and networking were amazing.

I’d also like to mention that on October 17th, Dawn Brinson traveled to Chiapas, Mexico to get a first hand understanding how the micro-lending concept is having a tremendous impact on the lives of the newly formed business women of Chiapas.  Our Chapter MasterMind groups have been receiving briefings on this subject and many have decided to “Adopt-A-Group” in Chiapas.  Thanks to all of you who are participating, many lives will be forever changed and improved.  Next time you see Dawn, ask her about her wonderful trip.

Enough about the past… Let’s talk about what we have coming up.  With the Holidays around the corner, we decided it might be a good time to clear our closets of some business suits.  Carol LeStarge has volunteered to lead a NAWBO effort to help Attitudes and Attire.  Attitudes and Attire is a non-profit agency that prepares women who are just entering the workforce.  Many of them do not even have a nice outfit to wear to the interview.  However, after contacting Attitudes and Attire, it was determined that what these women need the most of are new queen-sized pantyhose and scarves.  So we have shifted our focus and will be collecting these items at our next Chapter meeting.  Please help with this worthy cause, if you are able.  They can also use women’s larger size business suits, so if you and anyone in your family have any, please ask Carol about how we might get them to Attitudes and Attire.  But remember, we will only be collecting pantyhose and scarves at our December meeting.

Please come out and celebrate the final monthly Chapter meeting of the year with us.  We have a great program planned with Julie Garella who will present strategic guidance and information relevant to growing your business as well as issues surrounding financing and exits.  Hope to see you there!

In the meantime, Pump up the Volume!
