President’s Message: Pump Up The Volume!
by Wendy Lopez, President

Whenever I think of our NAWBO chapter, my perception is that of an established, stable organization of women business owners. The presidents who have come before me have worked very hard to create an environment of inspiration and business connectivity for all members. Each year that I have been involved with NAWBO, the organization has added value for its members. Diane McCartney mentions many of the benefits of NAWBO membership in her last letter, so I won't repeat them.

My theme for 2003–2004 is to Pump up the Volume! To make sure that we achieve the "wow," we will focus on three development areas:

Increase NAWBO's visibility in the business community at large. Our NAWBO chapter will participate in more community functions and continue to nurture the alliances we have formed with other women's business organizations and chambers of commerce.
Increase our membership — both individual members and Corporate Partners. The D/FW Metroplex has more than 125,000 women business owners — we want them to join NAWBO.
Increase our public involvement — NAWBO has a rich history of influencing national public policy. Our chapter will become just as active on a local and statewide level.

In essence, we will Pump up the Volume... Increasing our numbers and our profile.  We will truly become the acknowledged voice of the women's business community.

I look forward to a very exciting year ahead, working with a wonderful board. We are all tremendously enthusiastic about meeting the challenges outlined above, and especially about hosting the National NAWBO Annual Conference in June 2004!
