Achievement Awards

Nomination deadline for the national Member of the Year Award, the Woman Business Owner of the Year Award and the Gillian Rudd Vanguard Award is March 1, 2003. These three awards will be presented in June at the upcoming 2003 NAWBO Annual meeting in Nashville.

Application criteria and nomination forms for these awards are available on the Web site www.nawbo.org. From the Home Page, click on NAWBO, then on NAWBO National Awards, to access these materials. Mail four copies of the completed nomination package to NAWBO National Headquarters at 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, VA 22102. Nomination submissions must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2003.

Note that award winners must be present at the event in order to receive their awards. Travel, lodging and conference registration are the responsibility of the award winners. For questions about the award program, contact Patty M. Breeze, CLU, CFP, national awards chair, at 859.367.3745 or pmbreeze@aol.com.

National Leadership Awards

The National Leadership Awards have been developed to celebrate local and National NAWBO leaders at a National level, to reinforce positive NAWBO leadership qualities throughout every level of the organization, and to encourage all members to reflect on their leadership abilities and style. Awards will be presented at the 2003 Annual Meeting in Nashville, and nominees must be present to receive their recognition.

Deadline for nomination submissions is March 1, 2003. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee with representatives from all five regions and one non-voting representative from Headquarters. For more information, contact Beverly Inman-Ebel, VP Member Services at bie@talklisten.com

NAWBO/Wells Fargo Trailblazer Award

The second annual NAWBO/Wells Fargo Trailblazer Award, designed to highlight the achievements of a “trailblazing” NAWBO woman business owner, will be presented in June at the annual Conference in Nashville. The Award will recognize a woman business owner that has successfully implemented an innovation to create: 1) a new business market; 2) a new way of doing business; 3) a competitive advantage in an existing market; or 4)an improved customer experience. The nomination period is now underway, and the application deadline is April 25 2003. The application form is attached to the e-mail that contained this newsletter, and will also be on the NAWBO web site.
