Compendium of National Statistics on Woman–Owned Businesses Now Available
by Women's Enterprise

WASHINGTON The National Women's Business Council (NWBC)has released a Compendium of National Statistics on Women–Owned Businesses in the U.S., a single–source document of current statistical information about women's business ownership in the country.

The compendium, a comprehensive guide of statistics on woman–owned businesses, was prepared for the NWBC by the Center for Women's Business Research, founded as the National Foundation for Women Business Owners. As a source of knowledge about woman business owners and their enterprises worldwide, the center provides original research to document the economic and social contributions of woman–owned firms.

In addition to recent growth trends and demographic characteristics of woman business owners, the compendium will detail the number, size and economic strength of their businesses. Also included is research–based information on key issues such as access to debt and equity capital, opportunities in federal procurement and woman–owned firms in international trade.

The NWBC is a bipartisan federal government council created to serve as an independent source of advice and counsel on issues relating to woman–owned businesses to the president, Congress, U.S. Small Business Administration and the Interagency Committee on Women's Business Enterprise. The organization is committed to improving the scope and quality of information on women's entrepreneurship in order to promote changes in policy, legislation, and public–and private–sector initiatives that will support woman entrepreneurs as they start and grow their businesses.

The full compendium report is available for viewing and down–loading at no charge on the NWBC Web site at womens–businessresearch.org [ http://womens-businessresearch.org ] or (202) 638–3060, Ext. 16.
