Every Texas Driver's License has an 800 number on the back, above the bar code. If you are stranded or need roadside assistance, you can call this phone number for help. Someone with The Texas Roadside Assistance program will either send out a law enforcement official or call a wrecker, depending on your needs. It is a common misconception that wrecker charges are paid by the state; however, YOU PAY THE CHARGES FOR THE WRECKER. This is still a convenient way to get needed assistance or have an officer sent to your vehicle.
