A recent study by the Center for Women's Business Research (previously the NAWBO Foundation) ranks Dallas and the Fort Worth/Arlington areas as 8th and 26th receptively in the number, employment and sales of women-owned firms in the top 50 metropolitan areas.

As of 2002, there are an estimated 86,918 majority-owned, privately-held women-owned firms in Dallas, accounting for 28% of all privately-held firms in the metropolitan area. Women-owned firms in Dallas employ over 144,000 people and generate over $19.9 billion in sales.

The Fort Worth/Arlington area is estimated to have 38,434 majority-owned, privately-held woman-owned firms, accounting for 29% of all privately held firms in the metropolitan area. Women-owned firms in Fort Worth/Arlington employ over 79,000 people.
