Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the largest rental car company in North America and has 4,800 offices in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany.  Enterprise operates more than 600,000 vehicles worldwide and is number 22 on the Forbes “500 Largest Private Companies in America” list.

Enterprise was founded in St. Louis in 1957 by Jack Taylor, a decorated World War II naval aviator.  Since that time, Enterprise has grown to be an international corporation with more than 50,000 employees, but has never strayed from Jack Taylor’s founding principles of providing customers with exceptional service and employees with support and ample opportunities for growth.

Enterprise’s primary focus is the local rental car market, specializing in car rentals to consumers who need a replacement car as the result of an accident, mechanical repair or theft, or who require a vehicle for a special occasion such as a short business or leisure trip.  Just over three years ago, Enterprise also began expanding its operations to include the airport market, and now serves 99 of the top 100 airports in the United States.

In recent years, Enterprise has been recognized for its commitment to customer service and dedication to its employees, and the company’s success was recently featured in Time and Forbes magazines.  In 2001, author Fred Reichheld recognized Enterprise as an outstanding example of customer and employee loyalty in the Harvard Business Review and in his book, “Loyalty Rules.”  In addition, The Black Collegian magazine ranked the company as the largest recruiter of recent college graduates among the country’s top 100 employers.

Enterprise has a national Supplier Diversity Program that works to increase the number of minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises (M/W/DBEs) that provide goods and services for Enterprise.  The company does so by providing assistance and a host of tools to help those with buying responsibility identify, select, and do business with M/W/DBE vendors.  Enterprise actively participates in and supports many civic organizations, including the National Urban League, the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and more.  For more information about Enterprise’s Supplier Diversity Program, contact Gene Roth, corporate purchasing and supplier diversity manager, at (314) 512-2761, email supplierdiversity@enterprise.com, or view the company’s Web site at www.enterprise.com.
