Educate, Energize, Expand!

Those three words describe the mission of NAWBO's Education Committee this year. As part of NAWBO's commitment to providing its members with value-added services, the Education Committee was founded two years ago to provide a range of educational programs and services to our members. Thanks to a thriving committee comprised of Suzi Berman, Chris Self and Kimberly DuFour, plus Corporate Partners Shari Male (IBM) and Karen Hunt (Legacy Bank), the committee this year brought to NAWBO an outstanding Education Brochure and Program Guide for 2001-2002, created by Suzi Berman and featuring DFW educational events of interest to women business owners. You can pick one up at meetings if you have not received it in the mail.

Members who have missed a meeting or two over the last 18 months may now tap into the knowledge and information provided by our excellent speakers through the "White Papers" program. These reports on meetings are a great source of ideas and free advice, and are available free to our members by calling Megan Romboletti at NAWBO.

For those who want more in-depth information on business issues, NAWBO's Lunch and Learn "Money Talks" program was established last year.  The Lunch and Learn programs are supported exclusively by our Corporate Partners, who pay a sponsorship fee to host and present a seminar of business interest to our membership. NAWBO coordinates the seminar, promotes it among our members and publicizes it to the media. It's a wonderful win-win for our members and Corporate Partners!

Kemper presented our first Lunch and Learn on October 12. Coming soon: "The Money Cycle," Friday, March 8, 12-2 p.m., presented by JPMorganChase.  Another Lunch and Learn will be presented in May by Legacy Bank.
If you'd like to join the Education Committee or learn more about our programs, please call Rosanne Hart, committee chair, at 214-363-8679.
