Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP

As one of Texas’ largest law firms, Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP employs nearly 300 attorneys and a staff of more than 400 in offices in Houston, Dallas, Mexico City and Tulsa. Representing public and private companies, individuals and governmental entities, Gardere also provides legal services for 19 of the 45 Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Texas. The firm is comprised of seven major practice groups: Corporate, Environmental, Financial Services, Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment, Tax and Trial. These groups are comprised of teams of partners, associates, legal assistants and support staff with specialized areas of practice designed to meet the demands of the changing marketplace.

The Gardere tradition as one of the preeminent full-service law firms in the Southwest began in Dallas in 1909. In 1993, the firm opened offices in Houston and Tulsa and, in 1995, Gardere merged with the 75-year-old Houston firm of Sewell & Riggs. Gardere opened offices in Mexico City in 1996 to provide services to companies investing in and operating businesses on both sides of the border and throughout Latin America. Through internal growth, lateral hires, joint ventures and strategic alliances with other leading law firms, Gardere continues to grow.

Gardere’s dedication to a diverse and dynamic workplace is evidenced by its commitment to the advancement of minorities and women, both in the legal community and within the firm.  Recently recognized by Texas Lawyer as the top Texas law firm for associate quality of life in a large firm, Gardere was also named one of the “Top Five Firms” in Dallas by Corporate Board Member. The firm’s history of exceptional pro-bono work earned Gardere induction to the Dallas Bar Association’s “Pro Bono Hall of Fame.”

Gardere supports many business and civic organizations, including The Greater Dallas Chamber, Greater Houston Partnership, Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston Grand Opera, the Dallas Symphony Association and many others. The Firm was one of the first to establish required community service participation guidelines for its partners. More importantly, it provided the flexibility and internal support needed to effectively support organizations such as Carter Blood Care, United Way, Habitat for Humanity and many others.
