ECONOMIC LEADERSHIP...
ENHANCING OUR ASSETS!

Central Florida has long been respected as a global leader in tourism and space technology.  However, declining market shares, due to a rise in international competition, are threatening our region’s status and financial future.  To broaden our economic horizons, we must examine our untapped potential and explore opportunities in key areas such as trade, transportation, research, and technology.  In doing so, we will create a strong platform for economic diversification, while securing our position in the global marketplace.

Current efforts to secure and enhance our economic future are happening through aggressive bidding for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, diligent efforts in bringing a Medical School to Central Florida, fierce competition for the right to host the U.S. Airbus factory in Melbourne and NASA's recent Space Act Agreement with the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast.  When one county experiences economic vitality, the surrounding cities and counties also reap regional benefits.  myregion.org supports and celebrates these efforts.

HIGHLIGHTS & HEADLINES

NASCAR HALL OF FAME

In support of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, it is likely that an annual induction ceremony would take place in conjunction with an existing NASCAR-sanctioned race weekend. This would attract a significant number of visitors to the site and provide a major economic lift for the Hall of Fame and surrounding areas. Daytona is racing to win the prize.

NASA Space Act Agreement
As the primary economic development organization in Brevard County, the EDC of Florida's Space Coast recognizes the significant economic impact the aerospace industry holds in Brevard County...

UCF MEDICAL SCHOOL
Central Florida's regional medical system is among the best in the nation.  The addition of a Medical School would not only enhance our top-notch service, but would also provide a tremendous economic impact for the region.

Melbourne Airbus Factory-1 of 4 Finalists!
Melbourne International Airport is one of four finalists for a proposed $500 million to $600 million aircraft factory and engineering center that would employ more than 1,000 people.
