Welcome to myregion.org!

Balance. Cohesion. Harmony. Promoting smart, quality growth is like watching a child's mobile. Movement of one element affects all of the others. The environment must be protected. Responsible development must be encouraged. Transportation must be available and efficient. How do we know this? Through extensive research conducted and being conducted that will help us understand who we are, what we value and how we can help shape our future, rather than have the future shape us.

  • Discover the dynamic demographics revealed at the Hispanic Summit,
  • Peer into the Penn Design crystal ball,
  • Pole-Vault over the bar set by our Regional Indicators and
  • Understand the Values important to Central Floridians through the Wirthlin study.
RESEARCH PROVIDES FOCUS
Central Florida's Dynamic Demographic
Three pieces of Original Research Studies revealed at the Hispanic Summit - March 2-4, 2005 included: The Economic Impact of Hispanics in Central Florida; Puerto Ricans in Orlando and Central Florida and the Regional Leadership Survey. This multi-county analysis highlighting the different voter attitudes and trends in the region, provided valuable information to government, business and civic leaders making plans for the future and promoting cooperation, coordination and collaboration in the region.

Regional Indicators set the Bar
Now that myregion has moved from the development phase into one of implementation, it is important to be able to gauge where regional collaboration is ultimately making a difference for Central Florida. The Regional Indicator’s Report sets the bar of where the region currently stands...then, it is up to us to pole-vault our community above and beyond!

Wirthlin Values Study
What resources, amenities and services do the people of Central Florida really value?  As myregion looks to help Central Florida sculpt a vision for the future, it is important to understand just what is important to the people who reside in our region.

DID YOU KNOW

The density of development is a factor in smart growth. A standard used for transportation planning suggests that seven units per acre are required to support public transit service or 4,480 units per square mile. At 2.75 persons per household, the population density would be 12,320 persons/square mile. The current population for the Orlando SMSA is 1,820 persons/square mile, down from 2,315 in 1994. Thus, the region's development trend is showing less density, counter-productive to efficient use of resources.
