myregion.org Communication Committee members from Lake and Osceola counties met in their counties Thursday to share community news, perceptions and issues as part of the myregion.org exploration. The Communications Committee, composed of key communicators from throughout the region, is charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan for myregion.org.

Sam Killebrew Sam Killebrew, a member of myregion.org’s leadership, remembers when Orlando was a small town. And he remembers when his native Polk County began changing due to growth that continues to impact the face of Central Florida’s business and residential communities. Today, Killebrew, whose business is headquartered in Lakeland, is focused on directing the destiny of Central Florida and its position in an unavoidably expanding global economy.

Leadership Council members Dean O'Brien and Ellen Titen The Leadership Council will meet next week in Volusia County to conduct its second review of the Issues Statements to ensure that they are complete and accurately reflect the views and comments that were provided during the Essential Activities workshops held in late January, 2002.

FUN FACTS
Currently, the seven county region that myregion.org encompasses has a population that is now more than 61 times greater than that in 1900. At that time, the region contained fewer than 50,000 people.
