In December, the Board of Directors for both myregion.org and the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce voted to become part of the Central Florida Partnership. Below is further information about Central Florida’s newest organization.
To say that there was a lot happening at the end of 2007 would be an understatement. The numbers of puzzle pieces that were put into place and the sequencing of these momentous events was something that not even Spielberg or Francis Ford Coppola would have wanted to direct. But the volunteer leaders of the entities involved were committed to this new direction and were courageous in their actions.
At the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Transformation Task Force recommended historic changes to our governance structure and presented a proposed slate for its 2008 Board of Governors, the Board of Governors adopted the establishment of the Central Florida Partnership and subordinated itself as one of the lines of business in the Partnership, the myregion.org Board of Directors approved moving forward with Phase III and becoming a leading element in one of the Partnership’s lines of business. And, in the midst of all that, Florida’s Secretary of State formally approved the Articles of Incorporation and By Laws of the Central Florida Partnership.
We would be remiss if we did not recognize the time and professional talent provided by our General Counsel, Jeffery Q. Jonasen, Baker & Hostetler LLP. He spent countless hours reviewing existing Articles of Incorporation and By Laws for the Orlando Regional Chamber, BusinessForce, myregion.org, Foundation for Building Community, Inc., and drafting necessary and appropriate revisions.
Additionally, Mr. Jonasen drafted the appropriate documentation for the establishment of the Central Florida Partnership, even traveling with Chamber President Jacob Stuart to Tallahassee for the “official” approval by Florida’s Secretary of State on December 11, so that Board Action could be taken at the Membership Meeting on December 12.
Now, if all that sounds confusing to you, you are not alone. It doesn’t sound easy . . . and it wasn’t. We’ve described the recent Transformation Process in numerous articles, the media has covered it, and even a “live” Web cast documented the transition. For those who need to visualize it, we believe that the attached Organizational Chart might provide a clearer picture.
