Emerging Trends in Real Estate® is a trends and forecast publication with a 28-year history and is the most highly regarded and widely read forecast in the real estate industry. The report draws on formal and informal surveys of real estate executives and market experts around the U.S., including survey responses from over 400 real estate executives and personal interviews with over 200 industry leaders.

Leading the discussion will be the ULI-Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Washington, DC. Senior Resident Fellow Stephen R. Blank, principal researcher and adviser for the Emerging Trends in Real Estate. Blank oversees ULI’s real estate capital markets information and education programs and is a nationally recognized author and speaker on real estate equity and debt capital markets.

 

Prior to joining ULI, Mr. Blank served as Managing Director, Real Estate Investment Banking of CIBC World Markets, and previously as Managing Director, Real Estate Investment Banking for Kidder, Peabody & Company, Inc. His responsibilities included: structuring, underwriting, and executing corporate financings including initial public offerings of common and preferred shares, unsecured debentures, and convertible bonds; property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing; and financial advisory services including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and recapitalizations.

 

Mr. Blank is a member of The American Society of Real Estate Counselors (CRE designation) and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He serves as a member of the boards of directors of MFA Mortgage Investments, Inc. and BNP Residential Properties, Inc., and a member of the board of trustees of Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust.

 

Additionally, Mr. Blank is a member of the Advisory Board of the Real Estate Research Institute, the Editorial Board of RERC Industry Outlook, and the Editorial Advisory Board of Global Property Investor. Mr. Blank received his B.A. degree from Syracuse University and was awarded a M.B.A. degree from Adelphi University.
