Strategic Communications Committee Explores ‘Awareness’ Campaign

On July 13, sixteen members of the myregion.org Strategic Communications Committee met to discuss various ways the “How Shall We Grow?” Campaign could increase community awareness and boost participation in its community meetings.

The group discussion, facilitated by project director Shelley Lauten, began with an overview of current progress of the “How Shall We Grow?” Campaign and what is currently needed in order for the campaign to successfully move forward. Members of the Strategic Communications Committee stressed that the overall outcome of the Campaign is crucial and requires particular focus at this time.

An abundance of ideas were generated by the Committee and are currently in the process of being implemented. Ideas included collaborating with the media, identifying ways to target younger generations, and making certain aspects of the “How Shall We Grow?” Campaign available electronically and online.

The myregion.org Strategic Communications Committee is comprised of communications professionals from across the Central Florida region. The Committee meets once every other month at the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce to discuss issues specific to the “How Shall We Grow?” Campaign and also to devise communications strategies and outreach efforts for the Campaign.
