Meet the myregion.org Staff

Ms. Jennifer Medeiros and Mr. Drew Swope are currently spending the summer working as program assistants on the myregion.org staff and specifically, the “How Shall We Grow? campaign.

Jennifer Medeiros was born in Fall River, Massachusetts where she lived for 10 years. She moved to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1994 with her mother and older brother, David.

During high school, Jennifer was actively involved in the Student Government Association and served as the Freshman Class President, Student Council Representative her Sophomore year, Student Council Vice President her Junior year, and Student Council President her Senior year. She was involved in cheerleading all four years, as well as coaching individual routines and was recognized nationally as an All-American Cheerleader in 2000 and 2001.

Jennifer ranked 13th academically in her graduating class and received a number of scholarships, namely the Devoe Cadillac Full Tuition Scholarship, which granted her full tuition to any university in Florida. In 2002, Jennifer attended the University of Central Florida where she was a member of the LEAD Scholars Association, the UCF Orientation Team in 2004, the President’s Leadership Council, and also became a lifetime member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated in 2006 with a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations, and a minor in Marketing.

Jennifer currently lives in Orlando and enjoys traveling, shopping, and staying involved with UCF through the Alumni Association. She plans on attending graduate school in the fall of 2007.

Drew Swope was born in Philadelphia and moved to Orlando at the age of two when his father, Jack Swope, was offered a job with the Orlando Magic.  Drew grew up as a middle child with a brother two years his senior, and a sister five years younger.  His brother, a recent graduate of University of Georgia Athens, still resides there working for a real estate company.  His sister will return to Lake Highland Preparatory School this fall as a sophomore.

Drew is an Urban Studies major at Furman University in Greenville, SC, entering his senior year this fall.  He enjoys traveling and completed a semester of his junior year abroad in London, England.  Drew and his family also spent three weeks traveling in England, Holland, and France.  He is a fan of music and currently works as the program manager for Furman’s campus radio station.  Upon graduation, Drew hopes to live and work abroad, perhaps serving in the Peace Corps.
