Meet the myregion.org Staff

Karine Moreau was born in Quebec Province, Canada where she lived with her family for 12 years. She has a younger sister, whom at age 17 will be attending college in the fall. She was a long time horseback rider and has spent a lot of her time volunteering in the rescue of abused horses.

In 1993 Karine’s family moved to Cameroon, Africa when her dad accepted a position with Texaco. Karine, who only spoke French at that time , rapidly learned English in 6th grade at the American School of Douala.  She continued to pursue horseback riding and had a chance to travel to several countries in Europe.

In 1995 the family once again moved, this time to Puerto-Rico. Karine started 8th grade at a private school and took the opportunity to learn Spanish. She became part of the choir in high school and competed successfully in many international horseback-riding competitions. After four years in the Caribbean, Karine and her family moved to South Florida, where she completed her high school and started her Bachelor’s at Florida International University in International Business.

In 1999, she joined Publix Supermarkets as part time staff and was promoted two years later to Customer Service Staff. She was also tasked with teaching Publix’s orientation sessions. In 2004, she was accepted in the internship program of Walt Disney World in Orlando. Karine was assigned to the retail and merchandise department at Epcot and became the Program Leader for the new interns arriving at her location.

In 2005 she was offered a position in the Media and Community Relations Department at the Publix corporate office in Miami. In her new role, Karine coordinated and distributed over $500,000 in donations to charity organizations from Vero Beach to Key West.

In January 2006, Karine proudly joined myregion.org as a Program Manager .She currently handles all workgroups and committees including the Speaker’s Bureau, the Arts and Culture workgroup and the Strategic Communication Committee. She also works with the team on the “How Shall We Grow?” Visioning Project.

Karine currently lives in Orlando . She enjoys traveling ,weekends at the beach, exercising and spending time with friends. She plans on attending graduate school in the fall of 2007.
