Meet the myregion.org Staff

Since joining the myregion.org team as a Program Manager in January 2005, Dean Hybl has been involved in a variety of aspects of the project. He has served as the program manager for all six myregion.org Priority Areas and is currently coordinating the Regional Leadership Academy and the Central Florida Regional Growth Vision.

Being part of a organization focused on regionally based issues of growth, quality of life, education and economic development was a significant departure from the career path of athletic administration that Dean pursued for the first 15 years of his professional career.

A graduate of James Madison University with a degree in Communications, Dean completed post-graduate internships in the Public Relations Departments of the Philadelphia Eagles and Richmond Braves before becoming the Sports Information Director at Hampden-Sydney College, a private college located near Farmville, Virginia. During six years at Hampden-Sydney, Dean won nine national awards for publication excellence, was the head statistician for the NCAA Division III Football National Championship Game and served as the Vice President of the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.

Dean moved to Florida in 1996 to serve as the Sports Information Director at Rollins College. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications in 2001. During his tenure at Rollins, Dean was responsible for media relations, game administration, athletic publications and web site, athletic facilities and the Tar Booster Club. He served as the Public Relations Coordinator for several NCAA Championships and was also a member of the College Sports Information Directors Association Academic All-America Committee.

While at Rollins, Dean spent three years as the Advisor for the student newspaper The Sandspur and also served as the advisor for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. He also was the head statistician for the Capital One Bowl for six years and has worked on the statistical crew for the Orlando Predators.

Born in Gainesville, Florida while his father received his Master’s Degree from the University of Florida, Dean spent his childhood growing up in Southern Virginia. His hometown of Keysville is located in a Virginia county that ranks among the largest in land size in the state, yet to this day still does not contain a single stop light. Dean chronicled many of his adventures growing up in small town America in a fictional novel, Crystal Clear, which was published in 2000. He and his wife, Suzy, currently reside in Seminole County with their two children: Bethany Camden (22 months) and Nathaniel Wayne (seven months).
