The myregion.org Board of Directors will convene on Friday, February 10, 2006, and kick off the slate of 2006 meeting dates focused on "How Shall We Grow?"
The agenda will include a review of the successful launch of the first-ever Central Florida Regional Leadership Academy. Over 65 public, private and civic leaders from across seven counties, together with national and technical experts who bring their collaborative stewardship experience, are beginning to move from regional thinking to implementation of strategies for “How Shall We Grow?” What will this mean for our region?
Another critical piece of the puzzle, the first Regional Visioning Grant in the State of Florida to engage citizens in developing future growth scenarios for the region over the next 18 months, will be discussed. At the helm, myregion.org will lead the charge with community partners including the MPO Alliance, the Regional Planning Councils, along with significant funding from the Florida Department of Community Affairs and the Florida Department of Transportation. What will this mean for the Central Florida region?
As we focus on growth, we will also keep in mind the infrastructure and regional resolves that continue to bind us together as a community. We’ll hear an update on the work of PRISM focused on math and science education as well as quality of life issues of healthcare, social services and demographics. As we work to build our social capital, what will this mean for our region?
