“Board of Directors Meeting”
Friday, June 10, 2005
11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Port Canaveral
South Side - Cruise Terminal 4

The primary mission of the myregion.org Board of Directors is for Central Florida to be globally competitive in the 21st Century while maintaining a high standard quality of life. One way to help achieve this goal is through developing an economic structure that includes a broad spectrum of job opportunities. As part of our focus on Economic Leadership, you will hear about several projects that would have a major economic impact on the region.

For the first time ever, we will get an update on bringing a medical school to Central Florida. The addition of a medical school would not only enhance a regional medical system that is already among the best in the nation, but it would also provide a tremendous economic impact for the region.

You will receive a first-hand report on the progress of Volusia County’s bid to become home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame as well as the future of NASCAR in Central Florida. The economic impact NASCAR will have on our region as a result of efforts currently underway will increase its level of involvement throughout Central Florida. Daytona Beach is one of several locales competing for this opportunity.

We could not visit Brevard County without having an update from NASA on what is happening in their organization. NASA recently announced a groundbreaking Space Act Agreement with Economic Development Officials from the region and you will hear about how that relationship will benefit everyone in Central Florida.
