Fifty years ago, the Central Florida region boasted a population of 400,000. Today the population has increased to an impressive 3.2 million. If our current growth trend continues and the projections are correct, our children and grandchildren will see the region’s population boom to nearly 7.2 million people by the year 2050.

January Dennison Deborah Deese(1st National Bank) Randy Berridge Based in Haines City, TRC started in 2003 with fewer than 20 employees and has grown to more than 50 current employees, with the expectation to move past 60 later this year. The company, which re-engineers and produces flight critical hardware for military systems, received a letter of commendation from the United States Government in December 2004 for their assistance in the war effort. “TRC is an example of a success story,” said Dennison, who is a member of the myregion.org Economic Leadership Implementation Team and a graduate of Leadership Orlando. “With success comes an obligation to invest in the future. We want Polk County and the region to have many more success stories.” The Florida High Tech Corridor Manufacturing Center of Excellence for Obsolescence Mitigation will help Central Florida companies best fulfill contracting opportunities associated with potential discontinuation of obsolete military equipment. It will also help the Central Florida area determine its ability to meet the needs of the national manufacturing industry. In the project’s early stages, a study will be conducted to help determine the size of the manufacturing market and the Corridor’s capacity to respond to contracting opportunities that might be generated by the discontinuation of obsolete military equipment. Randy Berridge, President of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council (FHTCC) and co-chair of the myregion.org Economic Leadership Implementation Team, was on hand for the presentation and thanked Dennison for helping to increase the status of the Florida High Tech Corridor in the technology marketplace.
