It is with a great deal of sadness that we remember Sandra Glenn, Executive Director of the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, who passed away suddenly on January 22, 2005.

Instrumental in coalescing the seven county commissions in support of myregion.org during its initial development, Sandra understood the importance of regional collaboration, and the power of consensus building, under a common agenda for Central Florida.

Born March 20, 1938 in La Fayette, GA to the late Elston Benton & Rosa Lee (Hegwood) Stanfield, she moved to Altamonte Springs in 1967. Prior to her service as Executive Director of East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, she played a key role in Seminole County Government, and was the first woman ever elected to the Seminole County Commission. Her contributions to Central Florida and the state have helped shape our region and lay a solid foundation for our collective future.

She is survived by her son, Benny Glenn and her grandchildren, Alex Glenn and Brianna Glenn. In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Sandra Glenn Memorial Scholarship Fund at Seminole Community College. Contributions should be mailed to Seminole Community College Foundation, 100 Weldon Boulevard, Sanford, FL 32773.

The myregion Board of Directors and Staff will miss Sandra’s leadership, unwavering sense of community, and her uncanny ability to make us all laugh.
