Thanks to the efforts of Executive Committee member and Development Co-Chair Randy Lyon, myregion.org lead consultant Michael Gallis was invited to be the keynote speaker at today’s Urban Land Institute Forum (ULI) held at the University of Central Florida Downtown Ying Academic Center in Orlando.

At this “Regional Opportunity Forum,” Gallis discussed the extent of the opportunities emerging in the Central Florida marketplace.

myregion.org is the only organization of its kind invited to share its technical expertise with ULI members. In their own words, myregion.org “has profoundly challenged the myths, perceptions and, sometimes, parochial perspectives of Central Florida, providing an opportunity-rich foundation for our 21st century.”

After Gallis’ presentation, a respondent panel featuring prominent Central Florida ULI leaders in commercial, residential and investment property provided a unique local response and perspective to the emerging regional view, followed by a retrospective by Martin R. Cramton, Director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission.

The Urban Land Institute is a community of practice for those engaged in the entrepreneurial and collaborative process of real estate development and land use policy-making. Its mission is to provide responsible leadership in the use of land in order to enhance our total environment. Funded in 1936, ULI now has 17,000 members working in the public and private sectors, a staff of 100 in Washington, D.C., and a $27 million operating budget.
