A Year at Glance

After a full year of hard work, resourcefulness and commitment from the myregion.org Leadership Team, we are half way to reaching the mark!

myregion.org has already involved over 2,000 public and private leaders and citizens of the region, translating into hundreds of volunteer hours and thousands of community contacts. By its completion in July 2003, this regional partnership will benefit about 3 million more.

After raising $2 million from 16 Funding Partners and assembling a regional Leadership Team of over 300 volunteer leaders of different ethnic backgrounds, perspectives and professional expertise, existing data were collected and analyzed on the 13 systems of study and over 250 full-size, color maps highlight the regional information, creating a new “visual language” for area decision-makers and the public at large.

Twelve Regional Themes emerged and Key Opportunities and Threats were identified. During the next six months, the Executive Committee will work with community stakeholders, building consensus on a regional agenda. Together, they will address the identified Opportunities and Threats and will develop a series of Strategies for the region.

It will be with a great sense of satisfaction that the Executive Committee and Leadership Team of myregion.org will present The Central Florida SourceBook for Regional Action to its family of communities in July 2003, privileged by the opportunity to take an active role in shaping our future.
