 FUN FACTS

The 1-4 corridor (from Lake Mary to Disney) is the backbone of office and retail development.  More than 90% of the region's multi-tenant office space development is located in that corridor.  During the 1990s, five of the eight new regional malls were built along 1-4.

Teachers Receive Free “Educator Pass” to KSC Visitor Complex

The Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Visitor Complex has partnered with NASA to provide full-time Florida and Georgia educators with a complimentary 12-Month Pass to the Visitor Complex. The “Educator Study Pass” provides qualified teachers with access to all Visitor Complex attractions, exhibits, tours and educational resources, helping them to enhance their science and space exploration knowledge and discover interesting facts to integrate into their classroom teaching plans.

At Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, teachers can take the KSC Tour to restricted areas, including the Apollo/Saturn V Center and LC-39 Observation Gantry; meet an actual astronaut during the daily Astronaut Encounter program; see the IMAX films, “Space Station 3-D” and “The Dream Is Alive”; enjoy exhibits such as Early Space Exploration and Exploration in the New Millennium; and see the live interactive show, “Mad Mission to Mars 2025.”

Educators of Kindergarten through 12th grades may also visit the Kennedy Space Center Educator Resource Center (ERC), where they will receive information about NASA educational resources for use in their classrooms. They may also schedule a hands-on student program at KSC’s unique Exploration Station. Educators are encouraged to call 321.867.4090 prior to visiting for details about how best to use the ERC’s resources during their visit.

To be eligible for an Educator Study Pass, educators must be currently employed at an accredited school as a full-time classroom educator and must present their valid Florida or Georgia teaching certificate or valid teacher ID card, plus a photo ID, at the Group Services Ticket Plaza windows (1-4) at the Visitor Complex.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s educational programs attracted more than 100,000 participants last year and have earned consistently high reviews from participants and parents. Close to 21,000 students and teachers from the seven-county region visited KSC in 2001.

Activities include Camp KSC spring and summer day camps; educational field trips; job shadowing programs for students with disabilities; and Overnight Adventure campouts.

To learn more about Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s educational programs, or to download a classroom Activity Guide, visit www.KennedySpaceCenter.com and go to the Educator’s Zone.

The Visitor Complex is open from 9 a.m. to dusk every day except December 25 and certain launch days. For more information, call 321.449.4400 or visit www.KennedySpaceCenter.com.
