The 1-4 corridor (from Lake Mary to Disney) is the backbone of office and retail development.  More than 90% of the region's multi-tenant office space development is located in that corridor.  During the 1990s, five of the eight new regional malls were built along 1-4.

Are we ready for “Green” Buildings?

For nearly ten years, the concept of environmentally sensitive and energy efficient building design has been promoted by the U.S. Green Building Council.

“Green” buildings in Portland, New York and Austin, are leading the nation with innovative design and improvements that include lighting, water, consumption, insulation, windows, ventilation systems, electric motors for air conditioning and elevators, landscaping, new building materials and even reducing the amount of pavement for the parking lots.

myregion.org data reflects that the our environment is important to both our economic vitality and quality of life but faces a wide range of threats, including the increasing pressure of urbanization. Because Central Florida is the only region in North America located within the context of a very complex and unique environment, the solutions to its urban problems will have to be equally unique.
