 FUN FACTS

In growth of earnings-as measured by per capita personal income - Florida barely led Georgia during the 1970s. By the 1980s Georgia passed Florida’s income growth rate. In 1990s the gap in Georgia’s favor had widened to 54.04% income growth. Florida not only fell behind Georgia’s growth rate, it fell below the US national average of 45.76% income growth.

myregion.org Has Speakers Available

In order to explain the project and update the public on its progress, myregion.org has created a Speakers Bureau; and volunteer speakers are available during October and November to visit civic groups, trade associations, seniors groups and other public venues as part of its community-outreach program. A PowerPoint presentation has also been developed and is being used successfully in this effort.

Last December, over 600 community leaders gathered to launch myregion.org, a regional partnership that involves government, business, institutional leaders and citizens from Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties. Never attempted before, this project is studying 13 different systems in Central Florida from tourism to transportation, from education to public safety and their relationships to one another and throughout the region in order to better understand how parts of the region fit together and how we can position Central Florida in the world marketplace.

Take advantage of this exciting opportunity that is sure to spark interaction and discussion as well as support of this initiative. To schedule a myregion.org speaker for your group, please contact Jen Amodt at 407.835.2449 or via email at jen.amodt@orlando.org.
