myregion.org Debuts Groundbreaking Regional Map System

In a captivating presentation, Michael Gallis, the myregion.org consultant, unveiled today his complex regional mapping system in a joint meeting of the Leadership Council and the Communications and Technical Committees.

The meeting, which took place in Brevard County, included an update on the status of myregion.org. Gallis explained that his 250-regional map system visually identifies how each Central Florida community fits into the overall economic system that makes up the region.

Items on the oversized and full-color maps include details and locations identified during the Information Gathering phase of myregion.org. For instance, the maps for the Education Template include the locations of universities, community colleges, and K-12 public and private school systems. As they are identified on the displays, Gallis demonstrates how the different institutions and locations are connected to, and affect, one another in the region.

This unique visual display proved to bring clarity to the information-gathering process, providing the first “pictures” of how Central Florida’s seven counties are similar, but unique, and how they share some of the same challenges associated with economic growth.

myregion.org is a two-year critical analysis of Central Florida’s seven-county area that examines 13 Essential Activities, how they interrelate with each county, and how the region can prepare to compete effectively in the 21st century’s expanding global marketplace.
