Don’t Touch That Dial!

If you do, you might miss seeing or hearing someone you know, work with or will get to know via myregion.org. Several volunteers from myregion.org have been interviewed recently about their involvement with this initiative.

Raiza Tamayo and Rita Kane, both Executive Committee members, recently appeared on “Entre Nos,” the only Spanish public-service television show in Central Florida. The show, hosted by Laura Santos, is broadcast both on Orange TV and Telemundo Channel 40. The two business owners discussed myregion.org, the important contributions minority and small businesses make to Central Florida’s economic stability and how the issues that affect our region impact them.

Other recent television appearances include myregion.org's president Jacob Stuart, businessman Dean O’Brien and Volusia County Councilwoman Patricia Northey, all of whom appeared on “Volusia Magazine,” hosted by Dave Byron. Byron, who works for the county, is also a member of the myregion.org Communications Committee.

The program aired twice on public television’s WCEU-Channel 15. Conversation focused on effective regional leadership, with Commissioner Northey citing success of the recent joint venture between Volusia and Seminole counties building the St. John’s River Bridge.

Meanwhile, Project Director Shelley Lauten provided an overview of myregion.org on “Retrospect,” a radio talk show hosted by WDBO’s Beth Perrell. That interview was retransmitted on WHTQ, WWKA and WPXO last weekend.
