Organizing the comments and concerns of hundreds of people from a public forum is no easy task, but one that members of myregion.org’s Technical Committee have accomplished.
This week, the second group of edited Issues Statements will be reviewed by the Leadership Council to ensure that the comments and concerns of participants are accurately and effectively conveyed to researchers studying the seven-county area of Central Florida.
These summaries, which are a prime component of the ongoing data collection phase of this project, “totally acknowledge and honor” what participants said in the 13 Essential Activities Workshops that took place in January, explained Lawrie Platt Hall, a volunteer liaison between the Executive and Technical committees.
Platt Hall explained that the success of Consultant Michael Gallis’ research relies heavily on being provided with accurate information about the community. The Technical Committee’s mission is to assist in gathering and interpreting area data and existing research on the region, and to serve as liasions to each of the workshop teams, as well as the Leadership Council and Executive Committee. More than 600 people participated in the workshops and expressed their views about the region’s current and future needs to meet the region’s growing global economic demands.
“The Technical Committee has worked tirelessly and has made significant progress in organizing the “huge volume” of material gathered from the week-long sessions as well as comments delivered via the website,” Hall said.
“It’s critical data that consultant Michael Gallis and his team of researchers are using for their analysis of Central Florida, its problems, its strengths and how this region functions or what it needs to function in a global economy. This is a significant effort that can serve as a compass to our region’s future in the state, the nation and literally, the world,” Platt Hall said.
