The
myregion.org first series of
“Essential Activities Workshops” proved to be a significant element of the
myregion.org
initiative. The sessions, which lasted four days, provided an open forum for
discussion and information gathering about the issues that concern the
seven-county region.
Participants from all walks of the communities involved in
this effort, discussed opportunities and concerns about 13 areas of the region:
Transportation,
Culture,
Environment,
Healthcare,
Education,
Infrastructure,
History,
Demographics/Diversity,
Public Safety,
Tourism,
Development,
Government and
Economy/Workforce.
The information collected in this process is published in a
“briefing paper” available on the
myregion.org Web site. However, the
data was so compelling and extensive, that participants have requested the
opportunity for further discussion about these 13 “essential” templates or
socio-economic systems of our community.
The next opportunity for groups to gather is scheduled for
four days in July, when committee and template members as well as members of
the public are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussions. Those
sessions are scheduled to run from July 9 through 12 at the Orlando Science Center. For more
