Volusia Chairman Frank Bruno Honors Dr. Jimmy Huger The history of Central Florida is full of individuals, organizations and events that have been important in shaping the character and unique history of our region. Some are well known to everyone in the region, while others are “hidden treasures” that are well known to those in a particular part of the region, but unfamiliar to many others. Champions of Regional Collaboration: Joan Riehm and John Parr myregion.org joins colleagues from across the country in mourning the deaths of two good friends to the cause of Regional Collaboration. John Parr, from Denver, and Joan Riehm, from Louisville, each passed away over the last six weeks. Both served as faculty members for the Central Florida Regional Leadership Academy, which was held in 2006.

Rollins Invites Regional Leaders to Give Input on Curriculum
On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, Rollins College will host a day-long symposium “Past Visions, Future Solutions: A Call to Renew Hamilton Holt’s Great Adventure in Common Sense Education.” This event, sponsored by the Rollins Florida Studies Initiative will bring together leading Florida scholars, experts, local leaders, and citizens to discuss how students can be educated for leadership roles in one of the nation’s bellwether states: a place that is vibrant, diverse, and facing the issues that will define the future.
