President’s Message - A Year in Review
“Where does the time go?” I know it’s cliché, but that statement is so true as I write this final President’s Message.  The last 11 months have been a whirlwind amidst the usual challenges of volunteer leadership, combined with a change in the economic environment that most of us did not fully predict.  Our industry, more than most, has faced scrutiny and has been questioned about our core business values and yet, I can say with full confidence that the MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter has survived and thrived in the adversity.  Our total number of members is almost exactly the same as it was at the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1), which is a remarkable accomplishment considering that many US chapters of MPI have seen drops in membership as big as 30%. Your chapter leaders have continued to focus on providing top-notch educational and networking opportunities in order to further your personal and professional success.  And, most importantly, the membership at large has come together to support each other in numerous ways, from members making it a priority to “Buy MPI” to financially supporting members that have been affected by illness, family crises, or job losses.  The 430+ individuals that make up this Rocky Mountain Chapter are an incredible group!

Golf News
If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?  Tee times!

The 5th Annual MPI/PCMA Golf Tournament is just a few weeks away.  This year we are excited to be hosted by the Broadmoor Resort & Golf Club on Thursday, June 4.  Be sure to register yourself and/or your foursome for this great tournament.  Again this year, we are offering a full 18-hole shotgun tournament and a 9-hole course play option.  Spots are going FAST!

MPIRMC 2008-2009 Annual Gala and Awards
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away  . . . .  a land called MPIRMC.  Here lived a group of planners and suppliers.  They were the organizers of their kingdom and were all anticipating the upcoming gala/faire where their new King would be crowned.  The planners were planning; the suppliers were supplying and the excitement of it all was building. 
 
The invitations were sent to all eligible planners and suppliers in hopes that they would celebrate the accomplishments of all the loyal subjects of MPIRMC as well as the coronation of the new court to rule the land.  Ready thyself to partake in an evening of festivities, food and merrymaking.  Enjoy a variety of spirits to quench the heartiest of thirsts.
 

  
Communications News
Do you know what the monthly newsletter is titled? How about the weekly email blasts? You are not alone! When the communications team casually surveyed 15 MPIRMC Chapter members only 4 of them knew what the newsletter was called. For those of you wondering what it is – MPI Summit Newsletter.  And that is only in the email subject line. As for the weekly email blast, it doesn’t have a name.
 
That’s where you come in! The Communications team is challenging you the members to come up with 2 names one for the newsletter and one for the email blast. Members can submit an individual submission or it can be a team collaboration. The members that submit the winning names will be awarded either a monthly meeting registration or a networking event registration.
