Musical Amphitheatre Update
First official show scheduled for Labor Day Weekend 2003
Construction of the much anticipated Maryhill Winery Amphitheatre continues with irrigation, grass seeding and underground conduit projects scheduled for the coming months. With the first official show tentatively scheduled for Labor Day Weekend 2003, there is still plenty of work to be done before music fills the Maryhill vineyards.

Certainly the construction and final design of the amphitheatre is of interest to Maryhill Winery visitors, but the primary question on everyone’s mind seems to be who will eventually play inside the new facility.
“It’s really too early to say,” said Jay Hopkins, Maryhill’s Director of Sales. “The Northwest –area producers we are currently in negotiations with, say that the bigger acts typically set their summer schedules around the first of the year. However, we hope to put on at least a couple of warm up shows featuring local and regional acts prior to opening.”
Visitors to Maryhill are already enjoying live music on the spacious and scenic covered arbor. There is still time to catch a show this fall. CLICK HERE to see the remaining schedule.

Maryhill Awards Roundup
Zinfandel runner-up for "Best of Show" at West Coast Wine Competition
In it's first year, Maryhill Winery may have garnered more awards than any other winery in the history of the Washington State wine industry. The total now stands at 19 awards from National, Regional and State-Level wine contests.
As a testament to Maryhill Winemaker John Haw's enological skills, all the wines bottled at Maryhill last March have recieved awards including five Gold Medals.
Most recently, Haw and the Leutholds discovered that the coveted "Best of Class" and "Gold Medal" honors bestowed on the 2000 Zinfandel at the West Coast Wine Competition held in Santa Rosa, California earlier this spring was even more special. As the quote from the contest program below reveals, Maryhill's Zinfandel nearly won "Best of Show"!!!
"Top Red Wine in the competition went to Jeff Runquist's blockbuster Syrah 2000 from Paso Robles, garnering the most points from all 25 judges, but only narrowly beating out an upstart zinfandel from Washington State's Columbia Valley, produced by newcomer Maryhill Winery, Goldfield (sic), WA."
Of course, "Goldfield" should be the city of "Goldendale"...
