“The three varietals represented in this release are among the most respected and widely recognized in our State’s ever-growing industry,” said Craig Leuthold, Maryhill co-owner. “Syrah is the new shining star in Washington State and the addition of our two new styles is the perfect compliment to the new Merlot and Cabernet, which as consistent top-performing Washington varietals, have made the Washington State wine industry what it is today.”

Maryhill’s second reserve wine, the 2000 “Proprietor’s Reserve” Syrah, was aged for more than 20 months in French barrels which were hand selected by Leuthold and Maryhill Winemaker, John Haw. This extra special aging has produced resulted in a rich blackberry and raspberry nose framed by undertones of oak and a bright, lively finish.

"Syrah is the perfect varietal for the climate in Washington State, especially the arid microclimate we have here at Maryhill," Leuthold said.

As usual, great live music and food will be a part of Maryhill Winery’s Fall Release Party. Select gourmet food items from the self-service deli or delicious BBQ food is available for purchase on the spacious and scenic covered arbor. Rob Neuberger plays original music and blues on classical and steel guitar on Aug. 31 and folk, blues and original music with Mark Reynolds on Sept.1 and 2.
