Maryhill 2005 Harvest Hailed as "Best Ever"
 Veteran winemaker John Haw and the Maryhill Harvest
Team have already processed 20% of the approximate
600 tons of fruit slated for Maryhill's 2005 vintage. One
of the highlights includes the first Maryhill estate-grown
(Gunkel Orchards) Muscat Canelli. These grapes
represent the highly sought-after "4th leaf" or fourth year
of growth for this new vineyard which sits near
the Stonehenge monument just above the town of
Maryhill, WA.
The team has also processed Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc,
and Chardonnay from around the region. Zinfandel has
already been harvested from the Gunkel-owned vineyards
in Avery, WA, which are along the river about 10 miles due
Craig gets excited for harvest... West of Maryhill Winery. Haw says that the quality and
quantity of fruit is spectacular and should make for an
extra special vintage. The lingering dry and hot conditions in the entire Columbia Valley
means the grapes are continuing to ripen to optimum sugar and acid levels.

ZZ Top, the quintessential Texas boogie band, let loose their blues roots and Texas sense of humor as they struggled to build on their success as a local and regional act. Among their early influences: Jimi Hendrix, Howlin' Wolf, and Elvis Presley. They've largely abandoned synthesizers to create a new sound full of memorable riffs and highly reminiscent of Tres Hombres' sweaty blues-rock, yet the nod to modern trends like rap is undeniable. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
