President's Message
by Patricia Szczuka
As those of us in our Industry probably appreciate more than others, I for one think that Henry Ford said it best when he opined that “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
This important message was reinforced within me last month when I had the privilege of listening to Michael Kerwin, President of the NTMA Training Centers, address the Apprenticeship Banquet’s graduates and attendees. His well-timed inspiration to everyone focused on our need to be driven by excellent attitudes, as these alone can often be the catalyst needed to successfully overcome...

A Note from Your Executive Director
by Brenda J. Baker
First of all “Congratulations” to our President Patricia Szczuka and her husband Jason on the birth of their second child, Gabriella. They now have two beautiful daughters.
Secondly, yes, I finally changed out my photo since I have changed my hair (and aged a little in the last year!)
Summer is here and we are nearing our annual social event on July 28th. We are very excited at our attendance this year. We have already sold out twice and repurchased more tickets. We have 110 tickets sold at this point and very few tickets left. We may not be able to get any more tickets for the event near our current seats. So, get your reservation and payment in ASAP. We will have a tailgate party before the game under the “A” in the parking lot. Look for the NTMA banner.

for the Small Manufacturer
The last two months we have begun the strategic planning process. To review those articles click on the hyperlinks below: • Strategic Planning that Matters - May 09: Part 1 • Strategic Planning that Matters - June 09: Part 2
After reading the above mentioned articles you should now begin to have a clear understanding of your company values, your company’s purpose, and where you want to go personally.
In this article we will clearly outline the future of the company.
A company’s vision should be a snap-shot of its future. Unfortunately, many companies create vision statements that really do not mean anything to anyone. If the company has no vision, or if the vision is weak, the company will go wherever the wind blows. A real vision statement will be used in weekly and monthly decisions. The business owner should make decisions to do things that will pull them closer to their vision, and avoid doing things that move the company away from the vision.
