President's Message
by Patricia Szczuka
When I started working at my father’s company nearly 10 years ago, a colleague and now friend of mine said something that has stuck with me all these years. The advice was to spend 50% of my time working in the business and 50% of my time working on the business.

Registrations were slow to start and a few people called and were worried about attendance. Keeping in contact with people, having your name and face in front of them an being positive will get you everywhere! You are the person they are going to remember when business picks up. Those who disappear off the radar for awhile by fretting the bad economy will be forgotten...

Pro-Labor Executive Orders
President Obama continues to alter the labor landscape for federal contractors with the issuance of several executive orders. Each of these orders demonstrates the new administration’s willingness to be “labor friendly” in these difficult times. Executive Order 13494 provides that federal agencies are not to reimburse federal contractors for costs related to encouraging or discouraging its employees to join unions and bargain collectively. Examples of costs that no longer can be billed to federal departments and agencies, “when they are undertaken to persuade employees to exercise or not to exercise...
