President's Message

Happy New Year Everyone! I am sure each of us is eager to find out what is in store for us this year. I look back and take a deep breath and let out a big sigh as I recall all that has happened in 2009. We made it through a year with a new President, swine flu, a poor economy, and ended it with a terrorist threat. Whew! Well, I choose to move forward into 2010 optimistically.
We are still in business, barely, but we’re still here making dies and trying to meet all of our customers’ requirements. My family and I are healthy. I know that I am fortunate to be able to drive to work and home and enjoy dinner with my family. I am taking advantage of slow business conditions by staying home on Fridays to spend time with my daughters....

A Note from Your Executive Director

 As we start out the New Year it seems frantic with everyone trying to get ahead and jumpstart the New Year. It is great to hear the excitement in people’s voices wanting to make 2010 the best year ever. Although 2009 was a struggle for our industry (an understatement) and the country in general, I think most of us see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Business Management Team has been working hard to provide some program opportunities for members to build their businesses and the National NTMA has programs that are under utilized that members should take a second look at. There are many discount programs that are available to members that you aren’t using. Take a look at the NTMA website (www.ntma.org) and see what benefits are available....

The Machinist Training graduates complete an intensive 7 month program that includes topics such as algebra, trigonometry, blueprint reading, all conventional machining, to the CNC mills and lathes and an introduction to wire EDM and MasterCam.

NTMA Training Centers of Southern California, a private non-profit trust organization with two campuses in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas has immediate openings for highly motivated, results-oriented PART-TIME and FULL-TIME Machinist Instructors to work at both our Norwalk, CA and Ontario, CA campuses.
This is a GREAT opportunity for experienced Machinists to pass on their knowledge to others! Flexible schedules available as the NTMA Training Centers hold classes from 7am – 11pm Monday thru Friday (multiple classes throughout the day) and 8am-4:30pm on Saturdays.
